Our Story
Every journey begins with a planted seed, and the seed of this organization was sown by a deeply cherished man in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. Over the past few years, I have worked as a nurse in this community. In healthcare, each day exposes you to heartbreaking diagnoses and circumstances. One particular day stands out vividly: as I walked the campus of my workplace, I discovered a man seemingly asleep on the concrete, swarmed by over 200 flies attacking his exposed flesh. Witnessing this scene was devastating. Instantly, I felt a profound urge to help him.
Throughout the remainder of my shift, I made it my mission to ensure he was fed and provided with toiletries and clean clothing. Despite our efforts, finding him a nearby shelter proved futile as they were all full before 5 pm. Frustration mounted as we explored various options, eventually settling on providing him with money for potential travel arrangements. As we parted ways, he expressed immense gratitude, though my heart was conflicted. The stark reality of homelessness and unmet human needs in America weighed heavily on me, yet I found solace in knowing I had made a small difference.
Returning to work the next day, I was surprised to encounter the same man in the cafeteria. We recognized each other immediately, and I approached him as he enjoyed a meal. After exchanging greetings, he uttered words that resonated deeply within me: "Thank you for giving me hope again." His simple yet profound statement ignited a fire within me. From that moment on, I knew I had to do more.
Inspired by this encounter and guided by the principles of Galatians 5:13-14, which urge us to use our freedom to serve one another in love, I resolved to create an organization dedicated to providing resources and aid to those in need. This man's gratitude and the stark realities I witnessed have forever shaped my mission to ensure that everyone, regardless of circumstance, has their basic human needs met and is shown compassion and dignity.
Thus, the seed planted by one man's plight has grown into an organization committed to spreading hope and extending a helping hand to our neighbors in Midtown Atlanta and beyond.
